GERLOCZY BOUTIQUE HOTEL, Budapest – A Smart Stay in the City
About the Hotel
Historic Building Accommodations
Gerlóczy Boutique Hotel occupies a historic Art Nouveau building from 1892, originally housing skilled artisans. The 19 individually designed rooms feature large windows overlooking Gerlóczy street, Vitkovics Mihály street, or Kamermayer square. Some rooms include romantic balconies. All accommodations contain king-size beds, air conditioning, flat-screen TVs with cable channels, laptop-compatible safes, minibars with daily refills, and free WiFi. En-suite bathrooms have rainfall showers and Lush Handmade Cosmetics toiletries.
Café & Restaurant Dining
The ground-floor Gerlóczy Café & Restaurant serves international gourmet cuisine and Hungarian dishes alongside French classics like mussels and frites. Breakfast is available until 12:00 daily, with six fixed-price menu options at €12. The café features round tables under a large elm tree on the square. A three-course meal with wine costs approximately HUF 8,000. This establishment operates daily from 7:30 AM to 11:00 PM and serves as a popular meeting point for locals and expats.
Limited Leisure Facilities
The hotel does not offer a gym, spa, or room service. The property maintains an elegant turn-of-the-century atmosphere with features including a dark wood-paneled entryway, gilded spiral staircase, stained-glass skylight, and wrought-brass sconce lighting. There are no common indoor spaces beyond the café and restaurant area.
Central Pest Location
Situated on a quiet plaza in Budapest's historical center, the hotel is 0.5 km from Astoria and a 2-minute walk from Deák Ferenc tér bus station (serving buses to Buda's Castle District). Guest Ratings & Reviews
My stay at the hotel was quite delightful. The rooms, although a bit dark, were furnished in an opulent Art Deco style, providing a unique ambiance. The service was accommodating and always helpful, making my experience even better. The location couldn't have been more convenient, right in the middle of Pest. However, the dining experience was not all I expected, with limited options. Overall, a great choice for those looking for a centrally located stay with a touch of character.
My stay at the hotel was truly delightful! The rooms were small but nice, equipped with free WiFi, a safe, a hair dryer, and a fridge. The highlight was the free mini bar stocked with water, orange juice, and even a beer, although the refills were not always like for like. The helpful staff made my experience even better. The hotel's location was perfect, within walking distance of restaurants, museums, galleries, and public transport.
The hotel has lovely, character-filled rooms that are clean, bright, and comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful, enhancing the overall experience. While the rooms are beautiful, the price could be a bit high for some travelers.
